Wird einer damit auf den Weg der eigenen Werke verführt? Nein, vielmehr wird er darauf verwiesen, daß sein Glaube kein Glaube ist, er wird aus der Verstrickung in sich selbst befreit. Er muß in die freie Luft der Entscheidung. So wird ihm der Ruf Jesu zum Glauben und zur Nachfolge neu hörbar gemacht.
[If we call someone to obedience,] Does one become in this way enticed into the way of one’s own works? No, rather he is referred to the fact, that his faith is not faith, he is freed from the entanglement in himself. He must [come into] the free air of choice. Then, the call of Jesus to faith and to discipleship is made newly audible.
Damit stehen wir bereits mitten in der Geschichte vom reichen Jüngling.
This sets us already in the midst of the story of the rich young man.
„Und siehe, einer trat zu ihm und sprach: Guter Meister, was soll ich Gutes tun, daß ich das ewige Leben möge haben? Er aber sprach zu ihm: Was heißest du mich gut? Niemand ist gut denn der einige Gott. Willst du aber zum Leben eingehen, so halte die Gebote. Da sprach er zu ihm: Welche? Jesus aber sprach: „Du sollst nicht töten; du sollst nicht ehebrechen; du sollst nicht stehlen; du sollst nicht falsch Zeugnis geben; ehre Vater und Mutter!“ und: „du sollst deinen Nächstenlieben wie dich selbst.“ Da sprach der Jüngling zu ihm: Das habe ich alles gehalten von meiner Jugend auf; was fehlt mir noch? Jesus sprach zu ihm: Willst du vollkommen sein, so gehe hin, verkaufe was du hast, und gib’s den Armen, so wirst du einen Schatz im Himmel haben; und komm und folge mir nach! Da der Jüngling das Wort hörte, ging er betrübt von ihm; denn er hatte viele Güter“ (Mtt. 19,16-22).
“And behold, one come to him and said: Good Master, what good should I do, [so] that I may have eternal life?” But he said to him: “Why [lit: What] do you call me good? No one is good [except] for the only God. But if you will enter into [eternal] life, then keep the commandments. Then he said to him: “Which?” But Jesus said: “You shall not murder; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honour father and mother!” and: “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” Then the young man said to him: “This I have all kept up from my youth; what is yet missing of me?” Jesus said to him: “You wish to be complete, so go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, then you will have treasure in Heaven; and come and follow me!” Then the young man heard the word, he went from him sorrowful, because he had many goods.” (Matt 19:16-22)
