Zweimal ist der Jüngling nun unter die Wahrheit des Wortes Gottes gestellt. Er kommt um das Gebot Gottes nicht mehr herum. Jawohl, das Gebot ist klar, und man muß ihm gehorchen! Aber – es genügt nicht! „Das habe ich alles gehalten von meiner Jugend auf, was fehlt mir noch?“ Der Jüngling wird bei dieser Antwort von der Aufrichtigkeit seines Anliegens ebenso überzeugt gewesen sein, wie in allem Vorangegangenen.
Twice now, the young man is placed under the truth of the Word of God. He can no longer avoid the commandment of God. Yes, the command is clear, and one must obey it! But – it is not enough! “This I have all kept from my youth, what do I still lack?” The young man would have been equally convinced of the sincerity of his request in this reply, as in all the preceding [questions].
Eben darin liegt ja sein Trotz gegen Jesus. Er kennt das Gebot, er hat es gehalten, aber er meint, das könne nicht der ganze Wille Gottes sein, es müsse noch etwas dazukommen, etwas Außerordentliches, Einzigartiges. Das will er tun. Das offenbare Gebot Gottes ist unvollkommen, sagt der Jüngling in seiner letzten Flucht vor dem wahren Gebot, in seinem letzten Versuch, bei sich selbst zu bleiben, selbst zu entscheiden über Gut und Böse.
This is precisely where his defiance against Jesus lies. He knows the commandment, he has kept it, but he thinks, that could not be the whole will of God, there must still be something to come, something extraordinary, unique. That is what he wants to do. The revealed commandment of God is imperfect, says the young man in his final flight from the true commandment, in his last attempt to remain with himself, to determine for himself good and evil.
Das Gebot wird jetzt bejaht, aber es wird zugleich frontal angegriffen. „Das habe ich alles gehalten; was fehlt mir noch?“ Markus fügt an dieser Stelle ein: „Und Jesus sah ihn an und liebte ihn“ (10,21). Jesus erkennt, wie hoffnungslos sich der Jüngling verschlossen hat gegen das lebendige Wort Gottes, wie er mit ganzem Ernst, mit seinem ganzen Wesen wütet gegen das lebendige Gebot, gegen den schlichten Gehorsam.
The commandment is now affirmed, but it is at the same time attacked head-on. “This I have all kept from my youth; what do I still lack?” Mark adds at this point: “And Jesus looked at him and loved him” (10:21). Jesus recognises, how hopelessly the young man has closed against the living Word of God, how he with all earnestness, with his whole being, rages against the living commandment.
